During the Superbowl this year a Coca Cola commercial aired that generated significant social media response on both sides of the debate. Even if you did not see the spot I am certain you know which one I am talking about. Some were ardently on the side that it was a disgrace and some were standing firm that it was absolutely beautiful .Some still are unsure what to think. Social Justice is not a new concept. In fact its foundation is bound firmly in the message of the New Testament. Yet, today, many people are ready to remove God from the Debate. There are instructions for living in unity with another praising differences. As we have removed God from the dialog we continue to backslide into greater and greater divisions in our communities. It’s time to bring God back to the dialog.

  • Explore several scriptural passages that describe in detail specific ways of living that promote social justice in our communities.
  • Summarize the importance of maintaining God’s word in the social justice dialog.
  • Develop an approach to social justice that incorporates Scripture into the solution.
